History Our Roots Run Deep... In fact, they go back to 1888, with the Bank of Trenton, which was consolidated with Planters Bank of Trenton in 1921. The Depression Era Soon after 1929, bank operations became day-to-day. With no work available to local citizens, loans could not be repaid. Other banks were closing, but the resolve of the Planters Bank of Trenton and the Board of Directors’ commitment to this community never waivered, and the bank remained open through one of this nation's darkest economic times. Modern Times In 1966, a branch was opened in Elkton, and the bank became Planters Bank of Todd County. The Clifty branch opened in November, 1983. Three years later we became United Southern Bank. Into the 21st Century...and Beyond Our new main office was opened in Hopkinsville in April, 1997, followed in 2001 by a branch across town on Clinic Drive. Whatever tomorrow brings, we’ll be there. |
