Bertha Coursey – 35 Years of Service
35 Years of Service to United Southern Bank by Bertha Coursey
Originally it was Planters Bank of Todd County when I was hired as a part-time Teller in February of 1985. The branch at Clifty had just been established and I trained and worked at Elkton, covering a maternity leave in Clifty.
I love greeting customers & serving them.
In a short amount of time, I was happy to have been promoted as the manager of the branch in Guthrie.
After USB moved its Main office to Christian County, the Guthrie branch was closed. I was asked to work at the Trenton branch at that time. I loved the people at Trenton, and I enjoyed the quiet country drive. In time, I managed the branch at Trenton. Later, moved to the Clifty branch, loved being closer to home & enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere at Clifty including the customers.
Technology has changed so much of how banking is done. I went from filing checks in filing drawers to learning the computer & all its changes. I’m not sure if it keeps my brain healthy or wearing it out yet I know it’s something I need to do.
My favorite part of Banking over the years is the people. I’m always saying “Thank You” to my customers, co-workers, & bosses. My husband even gets a “Thank You” quite often. He says I smile too much, but God has been so good, why not smile.
