United Southern Bank has been made aware that some customers are receiving phone calls from individuals claiming to be from the Christian or Todd County Sheriff Departments. These callers state that the customer missed jury duty and demand immediate payment to avoid arrest.

Please note: local Sheriff Departments, or any legitimate government agency, will never call to demand payment, gift cards, online transfers, or banking information for jury duty, warrants, or fines. This is a scam!

Scammers may spoof caller ID to appear as a local sheriff’s office, use real deputy names, or use threatening language to sound convincing. In some cases, they may even claim that a loved one has been arrested. This is a scam!

If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately and contact your local sheriff’s department directly to report it.
